This guide explains how to create new AbeBooks listings from your Primary/Source platform using Commercium.
With the Commercium Profile, you can select which products should be listed and define how important product information such as the title, description, price, category, and other attributes should be sent to AbeBooks.

Follow the steps below to create your AbeBooks listings. 🚀
📌 Before You StartMake sure the following are ready:
  • ✅ AbeBooks is connected.
  • ✅ Your Primary/Source platform is connected.
  • ✅ The Unique Product Identifier is configured.
  • ✅ Required product information is available in your Primary platform.
  • ✅ The required attributes are available for mapping.
  • ✅ Product Sync is enabled.
💡 Important: The product attributes you want to map must already be available in your Primary platform. Depending on the attribute, the value can come from a native field, custom field, or default field supported by your Primary platform.
Step 1: Open the Listing Profile ⚙️
  1. Log in to your Commercium account.
  2. Open your Products
  3. Go to the Listing Profile section.
  4. Open or create the required Profile.
The Profile contains the product listing configuration for AbeBooks.
Step 2: Select the Profile Name 📝
Enter a Profile Name to identify the configuration.
For example:
AbeBooks Books Profile
💡 Choose a name that makes it easy to understand which products and settings the profile is using.
Step 3: Select Which Products to List

📦Choose the products from your Primary platform that you want to create on AbeBooks.

You can configure the profile based on the products that should be listed.
For example:
  • All eligible products
  • Products matching specific conditions
  • Products belonging to a specific category
  • Products meeting your configured product criteria
👉 Make sure the products you select contain the required information before continuing.
Step 4: Configure Product Information
🔄The Profile allows you to define which information from your Primary platform should be sent to the corresponding AbeBooks fields.
Configure the required fields such as:
🏷️ Title

Select the field from your Primary platform that contains the product title. (Native or Custom field)

Primary Platform → AbeBooks Title
📝 Description

Select the field containing the product description.

Primary Platform → AbeBooks Description
➕ Price Modifier

The Price Modifier allows you to adjust the product price before it is sent to AbeBooks.

You can modify the price using either:
  • Percentage (%) — Increase or decrease the price by a percentage.
  • Flat Amount — Add or subtract a fixed amount from the original price.
ExampleIf the Primary Platform price is $100:
  • 10% increase → $110
  • 10% decrease → $90
  • $5 increase → $105
  • $5 decrease → $95
This allows you to adjust the AbeBooks selling price without changing the original price in your Primary platform.
📚 Category

Select the appropriate category information for the AbeBooks listing.

Primary Platform → AbeBooks Category
Step 5: Configure Attribute Mapping
Map the required AbeBooks attributes with the corresponding fields available in your Primary platform.
The attribute value must already exist in your Primary platform before it can be mapped.
The value can come from:
  • Native fields
  • Custom fields
  • Default Value

  • Profile Name
  • Products to be listed
  • Title
  • Description
  • Price
  • Category
  • Required Attributes
review the configuration and click Save.
✅ Your AbeBooks product profile is now configured.
Step 7: Enable Product Sync 🔄
After saving the Profile:
  1. Go to your AbeBooks integration settings.
  2. Make sure Product Sync is enabled.
  3. Save the settings if required.
Commercium will process eligible products according to the configuration in your Profile.

🔍 Step 9: Verify the Created Listing
Once the product has been processed, check the listing on AbeBooks.
Verify important information such as:
  • Product Title
  • Description
  • Price
  • Quantity
  • SKU / ISBN
  • Category
  • Mapped Attributes
This helps confirm that the product has been created with the expected information
🔄 Product Updates
Once a product is created, changes to the mapped product information on your Primary platform can be synced to the corresponding AbeBooks listing according to your configured sync settings.
For example:

⚠️ Important: Attribute Availability

The attribute you want to map must already be available in your Primary platform.

For example, if you require a specific attribute to sync and the value is stored in a custom field in your Primary platform, you can map that custom field to the corresponding AbeBooks attribute.
If the required information is not available in the Primary platform, it cannot be mapped until the value is added.

⚠️ Important: Mapping Changes

Changes to field or attribute mappings are not applied retroactively to existing listings.

When you update a field mapping or attribute mapping, the new configuration will only be used for:

  1. Newly created products, or
  2. Existing products that receive an update trigger from your primary platform after the mapping change.(Trigger: Any change made to the product, such as the title, description, or any other synced field, will trigger an update.)

Products that are already listed on AbeBooks and do not receive an update trigger will continue displaying the previously synced data.

If you would like the updated mapping to be applied to your existing listings, you can either:

  1. Make a small change to the product in your primary platform (for example, updating the title or description) to trigger a product update, which will sync the latest mapped data to AbeBooks, or
  2. Contact your Account Manager for assistance.
🎉 Your AbeBooks Product Setup Is Complete!

Your Profile is now configured to select the required products and send their information to AbeBooks.

You can now continue with the other AbeBooks sync configurations, such as Inventory, Price, Order, and Shipment Sync, based on your requirements.
